Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer free consultations?
Yes. After you have submitted an application on our page or via email, our team will get back to you with an assigned therapist who will have a free 15 minute consultation with you. Based on the consultation, you may decide to continue with the therapist or not.
How do I apply for therapy?
Please fill the form on the "Contact Us" page on our site or send us an email detailing your concerns and bio-data on contact@cobearcollective.in

How do I know what to look for?
Do I need to be diagnosed with a mental illness to go to a therapist?
Seeing a therapist can help you better deal with life's everyday stresses. There are also many life circumstances that might compel us to see a therapist. Being able to better navigate difficult relationships, making well informed and introspective life decisions, gaining better personal insight are all things that are enabled through therapy.
How long will I be in therapy?
There are many different kinds of therapists and many different kind of clients. Many people who are looking for a more structured approach that helps address specific symptomatic problems might be better served by a short term goal oriented therapy, CBT, or psychiatry.

At the Co-Bear Collective, we focus on enabling a client to discover their problems and perspectives for themselves. At the root of even the most severe mental illness lies a psychological conflict that can be eased by gaining insight and forming a more healthy relationship with the self and the world.
How do I find the therapist for me? What do I look for in a therapist?
Many people often go for concentrated 3 month therapy sessions which consist of 12 sessions. Others visit a psychiatrist and may be put on indefinite periods of consuming medication.

At the Co-Bear Collective, we work with the client to help decide how long they would like to be in therapy. We prefer to work with a client indefinitely until they feel they are able to terminate and have solved the problems that they wanted to.
Do I need to be "good" at art to go to an art therapist?
Apart from the method and school that a particular therapist uses, every therapist has their own unique and individual style of therapy that is influenced by who they are as a person. Some therapists ask fewer questions than others. Some therapists might make jokes while others listen very seriously. Some reserve their opinions while others will explain the process that they have in mind.

You'll know which therapist is right for you after having a few conversations with them and establishing a preliminary relationship with them.

When it feels right, you'll know.
I need to be diagnosed, should I come to the Co Bear Collective?
We're not entirely sure what it means to be good at art. You may wonder if you need to have used a particular art form such as painting, drawing, music, or theater to go to an Arts Based Therapist.
You don't need to have ever used an art form to undergo Arts Based Therapy. The therapist is trained to use the art form as a medium for expression and exploration. The objective is to be able to create a relationship with the art and maybe even have fun doing it.
In ABT, it is the process of doing and making art that is more important than the eventual product that is created. We do not usually focus on interpreting the art but rather focus on the feelings, memories, and imaginations evoked in the client by the art and the process.

Don't worry too much about it. Sit back, relax, and have fun. You may discover something you hadn't even thought of.
I'm having a hard time; can I contact my therapist in such a situation?
The Co-Bear Collective is a therapy service that does not offer diagnosis or medical advice. These services are better and more reliably offered by a psychiatrist or a clinical psychologist. You may visit www.mayaminds.com for testing services.

If you are diagnosed with a mental illness, we are equipped to help you heal and overcome your struggles based on your diagnosis. Being diagnosed is not a prerequisite for availing our services.
The Co-Bear Collective offers therapy during a client's predetermined slots. In case of an emergency, the client may try to get in touch with their therapist but the therapist's response is subject to their working hours and availability. It is recommended that the client have a personal contact such as a friend or family member that they may be able to rely on outside of therapy.

The Terms and Conditions are too long; I didn't read them.
We encourage each of our clients to carefully go over the terms and conditions of our service. They are designed to enable a seamless and safe therapeutic experience for both the client and therapist.

We know that nobody likes to read through those long documents. If you find it too difficult or intimidating to go over the terms and conditions, please get in touch with the team or your assigned therapist. We'd be happy to schedule a time to go over the terms and conditions with you.

We value your well-being above all else.
